just blake you promised you would love us but you knew too much general info
personality
just serves mutant superiority with a smile. sure, he says he would adore it if saps and supes would get along – y'know, non-mutants and mutants, homo sapiens and homo sapiens superior – but just thinks it would be far more fun if they just don't. and with refined gravity powers marking him as one of those mutant sapiens superior, but zero emphasis on gravitas, just is light-hearted, positive and easy-going regardless whether he's asking about mutant rights or just making small talk. people usually enjoy his company on the basis that he's fairly good-humoured and a compelling story-teller beyond that. sure, facetious and flippant at times, but his upbeat temperament tends to get him on good sides more often than not. it definitely helps that just has got a flair for flattery! truth be told, just loves complimenting anyone if he's given the opportunity. on the other hand, “truth be told” should typically be used lightly in regards to just; he's cheerful, sure, but god almighty is the man a liar. chronically dishonest, compulsively untruthful and habitually under-handed, he takes little issue in being two-faced. instead, just rather enjoys being deceptive. even at its simplest, lying is thrilling for him. how untrustworthy just is can often lead to doubts about the nature of his praise. while he does sometimes mean his remarks they can otherwise be solely a means to an end. he would phrase it positively as “networking”, others probably would say schmoozing. with honeyed, saccharine words coming to him instinctively, it can be hard to pin down when just is being sincere or not. overall just is manipulative and his incessant flattery is just one aspect of that. controlling, he likes to twist people to his ulterior motives and gets gratification from exploiting other. pleasing himself is considered far more important than any kind of retribution just may face for his selfish actions. furthermore, when caught red-handed it's incredibly unlikely just will own up to doing anything wrong – at least not without waxing poetic to try and get out scot-free anyway he can first. yet ultimately just would think of himself as an incurable romantic with a capital r – he emphasises inspiration and the emotions an individual feels before anything else. namely, what he feels. rationality is of little interest to him. instead, he purposefully looks for things that entertain and rouse him. to just, these things end up being the chaos and tensions amongst mutants and non-mutants. just doesn't think there can be progress by mutant-kind without conflict and, if he has his way, conflict there will be. biography police officer at the eriwall police department, member of the brotherhood of mutants, both to just are means to an end. truthfully, his goals are total destruction of xavier's school for the gifted and, with it, the demise of the cerebro system. a mutant himself, just's parents were both non-powered. his father was a former u.s. representative, gunning for mayor of chicago at one point, who had long been an ardent supporter of mutant rights. former u.s. representative needs to be emphasised though. after a string of love affairs came to light that sabotaged his first marriage, alongside the revelation that he'd been taking payments from a lobby whose interests laid in capitalising on the mutant panic, he expectedly resigned from public politics. frankly, he'd fit the sleazebag politician type to the t – selfish, thoughtless and by god does just love his morally bankrupt dad. just was the only child from the man's third marriage. his mother was college professor who specialised in mutant and the x-gene as evidenced in english literature featuring such outright absurd claims that several of shakespeare's sonnets were actually written about mutants and that wordsworth possibly possessed some degree of plant manipulation. critics had long panned her novels as shallow and opportunistic but they reached national acclaim on account of their sensationalism. with her success, just grew up with a comfortable lifestyle, and both parents had long benefitted from the existence of mutants. showing his powers in his pre-teens, just's mother and father reaction was somewhat delayed. frankly, their preferred method of dealing with gravity powers was pretend the mild flouting newton's laws was not happening which grew progressively harder as their son's manipulation grew both more refined and accidentally. sending to him to xavier's school for the gifted was always out of the question, however. just had great spurts of popularity in school, great success at sports and otherwise a resolutely self-assured personality – taking him from that and planting him in a school for freaks felt cruel to them. instead, just's parents focused on finding a way for him to refine his power without singling him out. and by his graduation they felt none the wiser for it; graduating from a illustrious private school in chicago with a football scholarship and on the path to an ivy league college, he had successfully swerved and avoided a whole realm of mutant discrimination. yet when just was kicked out of university within two semesters he soon begun to search for alternative methods of entertainment. since then he's been no stranger for manipulating the law to his own ends, the same way he manipulates the laws of gravity and the same way he manipulates people. just's had his fair dealings with less-than-honest mutants outside the brotherhood – he calls it “networking” — but swears allegiance to them and can be poetic about the whole mutant superiority schtick. just's relocation to eriwall and appointment to the police department took a lot of strings on his part – a supposed transferal from a precinct in chicago. however, just is maybe less concerned about superiority than his own goals, the aforementioned ambition of making sure that xavier's school doesn't have a graduating class this year. POWERS just has a mutation that would fit under the umbrella of gravity manipulation. he is able to manipulate gravitons, a hypothetical particle that mediates the force of gravitation and is otherwise considered what governs the laws of gravitational attraction in the x-men universe. in his control of gravitons he is able to temporarily counteract the forces of gravity, essentially reversing the effect and pushing him away from the ground, rather than pulling him towards a mass e.g. earth, though he can also create states of weightlessness for limited periods of time. frankly, he just likes use this to walk on ceilings. typically this temporary opposite gravity effect only applies to just. however, this push could also be applied to other objects within a four metre radius around by manipulating gravitons. however, there are restraints to the widespread effect of the gravitational push. for example, the time in which the this effect is sustained would be significantly shorter if applied to multiple gravitons around just. within his capabilities he can only sustain this push for two to three minutes and possibly even shorter for larger objects. this effect could possibly be enacted on animate objects too, such as people, but for an even more limited period of time. as mentioned just can also manipulate gravity to induce a sense of weightlessness in himself and surrounding objects. this would cause him to float, similar to an act of levitation, though here he would be vulnerable to other acts of force exerted on him – he can't achieve a speed in this state without pushing off but, even then, his movements would be slower and somewhat sluggish. this would also require a great degree of concentration to sustain this state of weightlessness, especially on multiple objects. gravity manipulation comes with a price and even short-term usage can incur problems. just remains susceptible to aspects of motion sickness such as headache with short-term use but possibly extending into nausea, vomiting and lethargy with long-term, repetitive or heavy use. additionally, disorientation was an issue when he first started shifting gravity. though just is somewhat used to it – over ten years of practice will do that — it's still sometimes unavoidable, but can tend to affect people who have only just been affected by his power more than him. furthermore the power of weightlessness carries physical concerns for just such as muscle atrophy from long-term use. given that his manipulation of gravitation is for limited periods of time there's a very incidental chance of bone atrophy but he needs to keep a strict regimen of working out to maintain his typical muscle mass. how high just could theoretically reach in the sky is dependent on his velocity and air resistance. frankly, one estimate put the possibility of leaving the earth's atmosphere within 25 minutes of activating his gravitational push. in reality, there's no way he could sustain his powers long enough to do this. besides, travelling beyond 1,000 metres would incur the start of altitude sickness which would steadily get worse and would incur the possibility he wouldn't be able to cushion his fall with a variety of his powers – just isn't interested in finding out how high he could travel, he kinda likes non-broken bones. | ooc info ☆ NAME pidge ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS annie duff ☆ FACE CLAIM AXIS POWERS HETALIA – DENMARK — JUST BLAKE THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO PIDGE.
