marquis is certainly an ‘interesting’ individual to say the least. unlike most mercenaries (specifically assassins) marquis possesses an unwavering sense of loyalty. where this loyalty stems from no one (least of all marquis) knows. as a result of this he cannot be bought or otherwise persuaded out of either a contract or anything else he has given his word; deeming it to be dishonest and therefore a sin. perhaps we should back up. to understand marquis, to truly understand the assassin known as valentine one has to know what truly motivates him. despite being the embodiment of every deadly sin marquis is heavily religious. he believes that everything he does benefits the planet as a whole. in his eye’s marquis is the world’s savior. whether or not his doing gods work is up to debate but marquis certainly thinks so (don’t try to despite it with him, he’ll lightly call you a heathen then proceed to kill you). he only accepts contracts on people he deems deserve it, people who have sinned and therefore no longer deserve a place on earth (a convenient mindset considering the fact that practically everything is a sin). marquis sleeps at night knowing his doing the ‘right’ thing. needless to say, marquis is albeit psychotic. though not to the extent to being labeled clinically insane marquis certainly has his moments. normally surfacing in the heat of battle (or whenever his adrenaline is pumping) whenever the young-man has an ‘episode’ it usually involves a lot of blood, sadism and ultimately a place on the nine o’clock news. despite this blood-thirst marquis isn’t stupid, quite the opposite really. though not a genius by any means to say marquis was smart would be doing him a discredit. perhaps if he could produce comprehensive thought that didn’t include ‘gutting the heathens’ perhaps he would be a genius but as it is now all that intelligence is wasted on new imaginative ways to make things bleed. moving on, marquis is a hypocrite! to put it simply he hates himself, always has always will. while he indeed thinks that he is doing god’s work by killing those who deserve it marquis realizes that to kill is a sin. therefore marquis hates himself for sinning and even more so for enjoying it. this self-loathing attitude goes as far to result in marquis trying to attempt suicide, it never works but does help break the ‘mundane life’ he lives. marquis is highly irritable, almost anything can set him over the deep end. while he can take banter between him and his target before he puts a pound slug in their head any actual insult is lightly to infuriate the blood crazed maniac. Continuing would be like poking a sleeping bear with a stick while you’ve managed to achieve what you wanted the repercussions aren’t exactly pretty. last but certainly not least marquis can be easily swayed by charismatic individuals. to say marquis is gullible would be the understatement of the century. though in recent years he has gotten better with identifying liars or people who are just trying to take advantage of him marquis would rather not think of all the targets that have managed to fool him simply because they said, “I didn’t do it!” biography Marquis doesn’t know his parents, if he did perhaps he wouldn’t be a serial killer. Correction he isn’t a serial killer his an assassin who happens to have a large enough body count to be deemed a serial killer. So technically speaking he could be considered a serial killer (just don’t call him that or he’ll kill you). moving on marquis spent a majority of his life in an orphanage. All the other children personally took it upon themselves to make his life a living hell. A task they managed to do quite well. they bullied the poor boy, stole what little he head and just acted like little monsters. Until one fateful day, marquis decided he had enough. Thinking back on it now he wasn’t exactly sure what happened all he remembered was jumping on one of his tormentors and tearing his ear off (with his teeth) blood flowing into his mouth, marquis swallowed the ruby liquid and at that very moment something inside of him clicked. For the first time in his life he felt powerful the only thought that rushed though the child mind was how he wanted this kid to die. And die he did, ever so suddenly the fire in his eyes extinguished and he crumpled up into a pathetic heap on the floor. The other children looked at him in horror, they looked upon the boy whose life they wanted nothing more than to make terrible as he lapped at the blood now pooling on the floor. More, he needed more. Whatever it was he wanted it no he needed it! it was a massacre, the other remaining children (the ones who tormented him) despite their countless pleas were killed as well, the details of what exactly happened aren't known to him all he knows for certain is that once he realized just what he had done marquis ran, taking what little he owned with him. Eventually his search for a new home ended in him passing out in front of a church. When he awoke he was greeted by the head priest and introduced to a new life. For the next few years marquis assisted the elderly priest and learned about the word of god in the process. Unsatisfied with how his life was turning out marquis eventually left the church but not before vowing that whatever he did with his life it would ultimately be in the service of god. It didn’t take marquis long to realize what he was good at. Killing. In his teenager years marquis had discovered that he was a mutant, one who was able to control the properties of blood. It was a gift from god (as he considers all mutants) he was among god’s chosen. It was his duty to deliver unholy justice upon the heathens in the name of god. Starting up was easy enough, slump around the right places and eventually you’ll hear word of someone wanting someone else ‘eliminated’ he started small, slowly moving his way up, assassinations were his specialty. Years flew by as marquis increased in both infamy and skill, utilizing his god given power to track down vertically any target so long as he has a drop of their blood. At the age of twenty-eight marquis is now in his prime, one by one for better or worse he is certainly changing the world. POWERS Hemokinesis marquis has the unique ability to control blood, he can alter its flow and manipulate it into different shapes and sizes. as a result of this ability, marquis could vertically control a person (a practically exhausting exercise but not an impossible one) though in order to do so marquis either requires a sample of their blood (to digest himself), a sample of his own blood inside of his target, or his target to be noteably bleeding (not a simple paper cut but actual life threatening levels of blood lost). should marquis sample someone’s blood he also develops the ability to ‘sense’ them. in truth what actually happens is that he can differentiate them though their blood as a result of him being familiar with it. it’s not a limitless range in fact it’s rather small, twenty meters maximum. lastly, marquis possesses a healing factor of sorts, due to his control of blood he is able to force his body to coagulate at will. while he won’t be able to recover from severed limbs or anything too severe any injury the human body could normally heal unassisted though simple coagulation and time marquis can heal instantaneously if he so wishes. the main downside is how taxing it is to actually use. like many other powers that involve the user manipulating something marquis success on using it highly depends on his current state. if his exhausted his powers will be weaker, if his starved himself, sick, or is just going though a psychotic episode his hemokinesis isn’t going to work well. another weakness forces marquis to actively be replenishing his bodily fluids. last but certainly not least for marquis to manipulate any type of blood it has to be living (dead blood simply doesn’t want to cooperate). | ooc info  ☆ NAME MAR ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS n/a ☆ FACE CLAIM ♦ DOGS: Bullets & Carnage -- [b]Haine Rammsteiner[/b] – Marquis Esperanza THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO MAR.
