his heart fluttered with each kiss aveline gave. he remembered them. he cherished each one. he held back the tears. it wasn't manly to cry. "it isn't safe for you...i'm not safe," val whispered. he felt groggy with his words. wherever he went danger would follow. he couldn't be here. val held back the things he wanted to say to her. that he was sorry for everything. for leaving her, for abandoning her. it must not have been easy for her these past few years. it wasn't easy for val. he avoided looking at her at all costs. but it strained his neck. he couldn't keep up with this for too long. "trust me. just leave," val said, this time his voice carried sternness. he wasn't playing around. this was the love of his life he was talking about. but his will soon faded. his eyes drifted open and towards aveline. upon first glimpse of her eyes he felt his heart beat faster. stronger. their eyes locked and for a brief moment, val forgot everything. the pain he was in, his goals, everything. a moment of clarity. the edge of his lips curved up and formed a small smile. ah, shit. "i...i missed you." val felt his hand tightening up against hers. his heart raced faster. he tried to speak more but was stopped by his throat. it was dry. almost painful to talk. "water..." val muttered. |

VASILIS + JUST WEIRD COLLEAGUES ahh just because just's thirty it would make val feel sort of inferior in a way?? to make up for that he'll tend to find everything just does to be annoying. things such as his annoying blonde hair and his charm. so there could be some sort of rivalry, competition, and hatred there! oh and another thing is before just joined the brotherhood maybe the two knew each other. like val could be doing crime and just is like NO CRIME!!!! then chases and pursuits ahhhh. and when just finally became a member val's just like   but this might not work depending on when just became a brotherhood. also u had some pretty rad ideas in the cbox so let me hear em!! ♥ |

a mutant only clinic...now that was something val could support. he despises humans. they are ruthless and show no mercy towards mutants. from witnessing the murder things had only gotten worse. they were violent, leaving a trail of destruction everywhere they went. mutant superiority was the way to go. val was tasked to meet up with a new member who was formerly a backer of the organization. not the worse of jobs, but not one he would enjoy. he was in his car, windows rolled down with a cigarette in his hand, heading to the clinic. he has not been there before, but that was mostly because his first instinct was to go to the normal hospital...because of her. val got out of the car and approached the clinic. he walked up to the entrance and stopped for a few, leaning against the wall beside it. he took his time to finish off his cigarette, stomping it against the ground when he was done. he sighed, walking into the clinic and taking a good look around. plain, he thought. his shadow clung onto his body as he strolled along, looking left and right. "a pretty shitty place you got here," val said. he didn't know who he was talking to, but he was sure someone else was lurking around. |

that smell...it was familiar to val. a nice peachy scent. he knew exactly where he knew that scent from. it was aveline's. he dreamed back to those days. the best part of his life happened when they were together. from dawn to dusk they were together. inseparable. he would give anything to have that back. val soon faded from his dream. his eyes creaked open but his vision was still blurred. he felt something on his arm and hand. slowly turning his head to the right, his heart dropped. this had to be a dream, he thought. he tried moving his hand only to be stopped by the weight of hers. this was bad, he thought. not only did he fuck up but now he had to go and involve her in this. that's part of the reason why they broke up. there was no way out of this. he just had to face it. he tried to find the right words to say but was lost. he couldn't make shape of this situation. "...you should have left me," val whispered. him being there was a threat to both of them. he didn't know if the thugs were still chasing him. and if they were then that puts aveline at risk as well. he had to get out of here as soon as possible. val attempted to get up but was stopped by the sheer pain from his wound. he grunted in pain before settling back down onto the bed. he turned his head away from aveline, trying to hide his own. |

there were risks that came with the job. val out of all people knew that. he put himself in a position where he was vulnerable and prone to danger. and he deserved what he got. a bullet to the shoulder. he was lucky. an inch or two to the right and the situation would be a whole different one. he was out on delivery, smuggling weapons into the city where he would market them on the black market. it was supposed to an easy job. go to the pickup point, get the crates, drive back. but apparently another gang had different ideas and tried to get the crates for themselves. val managed to evade them, but it costed him a bullet wound. he stumbled out of his car and towards the entrance of the building. his coat was drenched with blood, and it was still pouring. pressure was applied using a scarf, but he doubt it would help him that much. the doors slid open, almost welcoming val to his fate. he stood in the middle of the room and waited for someone to help him. but before anyone could, he blacked out. he managed to somehow find his way over to a wall before sliding down to the floor. now he was out. maybe someone could help him. |

there are basically a few key points that i need to outline here: - they met when val was eighteen which means she should be around that age as well.
- whether or not she has powers is up to you!
- they broke up when val was twenty-three. so five years together.
- she was there to comfort val after he witnessed the murder of a mutant (killed by humans). she argued that not all humans are like that. she still remains neutral.
- aveline found out val was getting into illegal activities (activities which also oppose the x-men). rest of history is up2u!

val's tough. with the childhood he had he couldn't be anything but. he had to survive. he has a tough exterior to him, never breaking his character. he's serious and doesn't joke around. you insult him he'll insult you right back. he's a fierce leader. being a field leader for the brotherhood means he has to be fierce. he won't hesitate to kick you off the team or even kill you if it comes to it. he doesn't like traitors, nor will he ever betray. in short, he's your typical mob boss with a soft side.
the soft side being aveline. she is the only human he will ever love. he is very protective over her, and he thinks that by staying as far away from her the safer she will be. he attracts attention and illegal activities, and he doesn't want her to get involved in that. he's a softie when it comes to love.
val has had a tough life to say the least. he was born in the bad part of eriwall down south in a public hospital. the hospital said that his mother went in alone. it was safe to assume that both his parents didn't want him. a day after his mother was able to take val home, she dropped him off at an orphanage. and this wasn't the good kind of orphanage, this was in the bad parts. the caretakers didn't give a damn about the kids. they did their job: feed them and clean them. no love was given. when couples would come to the orphanage the caretakers wouldn't even dress the kids up properly. and it was because of the horrible conditions that no one ever came for val. but truth be told he was fine.
val first discovered his powers when he was ten, and it happened at the orphanage. he always had an interest in shadows: how they work, how they move. when he found out he could control it and make it do things, it made him complacent. the orphanage panicked and freaked out. they have never had a mutant in their house before. so he got kicked out. wandering the streets as a ten year old kid was more than difficult. he had to survive. luckily val wandered close enough to the mansion to be found by a teacher. the teacher brought him into the school and fixed him up good. they became a mentor figure for val. val wanted to be like them.
life at the school was so much better than what he originally had. he went to school for free (props to the teacher), and was learning to use his powers for good. but he liked skipping classes to go to the danger room. whenever he snuck out of class another class would be in the danger room. he would sneak in and just practice in the corner. he was obsessed with his powers and wanted to fully master it and improve. eventually the teachers had to step in and stop him from leaving class. it was good that he wanted to master his powers, but the teacher feared that it would lead to something more. his need for power was always his weakness.
during his fourth year in school he met aveline who was the love of his life. they were perfect for each other. she was his backbone, someone who was there to pick him up. she made him forget about his horrible past and look towards a brighter future. he loved her with all his heart. and nothing will change that. they broke up after five years together because being affiliated with a criminal was very bad for her reputation and job. he also didn't want her to get hurt because of him. it took quite a heavy toll on him.
but before that happened, val went through something that changed his perspective. after graduating from the school he was wanting to join the x-men. and he was just about to get in if it wasn't for the murder he witnessed. two mutants were being ganged up by about five humans, and they were outnumbered and being beaten down. by the time val had intervened it was too late, the humans had killed the mutants and fled. the ruthlessness of this incident made val rethink. if humans were capable of doing this to mutants, then they must be stopped. he wanted peace for the mutants, and only the mutants. so he joined the brotherhood of mutants. this was when everything turned to shit.
his role at the brotherhood was to provide weapons for them (even though weapons weren't really needed). he became an arms dealer and got heavily involved in the black market. all the while he kept it hidden from aveline. but soon after he couldn't bear the burden anymore and confessed to her. cue the break up.
val is currently a field leader for the brotherhood of mutants which means he no longer traffics guns. he's more of a boss now, controlling his own squad and telling them what to do. sometimes he steps in, but most of the time he just sits back and watch the show.
shadow manipulation. val's able to control the shadows. the shadows work like a normal human being. they can touch and grab hold of you. how powerful a shadow can be depends on the size of the shadow. the bigger it is the more powerful it becomes. bigger shadows can physically grab hold of you, for example it can stop you from moving by constricting you. but the smaller shadows (like the shadow of a cup) are less powerful and are used for smaller activities such as rolling over a light pencil. his own shadow does not appear on the ground. it sticks to his body and they come out whenever he so desires. he cannot control the shadows of other living things (including plants), but can control the shadows of inanimate objects (like tables).
using his powers too much can result in drowsiness and he could black out. his powers also become less effective during the night as it becomes difficult to differentiate between shadow and actual darkness. he cannot control darkness itself, only shadows. | ooc info
